The Plumb Memorial Library

The Plumb is truly the jewel of Shelton. Designed by Bridgeport Charles Beardsley, Jr., it is a fine example of Romanesque architecture. The Plumb family provided the funds, and the library was completed in 1894. Today it is a vibrant information centerpiece in Shelton’s downtown district. People stop by to attend meetings and programs, research Shelton and Connecticut history, check out materials for enlightenment and fun, ask reference questions, use the technology available, and to interact with their fellow community members.
